Zeng`s Garden Chinese Restaurant in Shallotte

Delicious food and great staff. May not look like much but it taste wonderful. They have plenty of parking and is right by a park. The prices are good just like the food. I recommend the sweet chicken and the sesome seed Chicken.

Good food, most of the time. Fairly attentive "drink fillers" unless you get something other than buffet. They do tend to forget everything once you've paid though, like a to go cup, or if they do its only partially filled. Good luck getting your fortune cookie lol. An occasional bug walks across the wall, but in all fairness it is an old building. Buffet is usually full of decent eat and fairly fresh. Early lunch is best time of day there.

Very small selection. Only two bars of food. The saving grace was the wonton soup and the spring rolls. Salt and pepper shrimp was good too. Okra was completely dried out. Even though the selection was limited, it was still better than some other buffets I’ve been to that had a bigger selection.

For a small place they stay busy during lunch. Good food.

This is one of the only Chinese restaurant I enjoy in this area.The buffet is always delicious, the food is cooked fresh and doesn’t taste like it comes out of a can. Very courteous staff as well.

Food has improved greatly

A local hidden treasures. Early lunch is the best time to go. My favorite is the pork fried rice, the pepper steak, and the chicken wings. Service is ok, the building could use some upgrades. Overall, a great quiet place with good food.

Great menu ordered meal. Hot, tasty and generous portion. SS chicken, pork FR, eggroll. All yummy 😋

We LOVE this hidden treasure!!!!! The buffet is WAY better than the 'other' Chinese buffet in town. This one is located BEHIND the Zaxby's Restaurant on Main Street. The lovely Hostess, MING, greets you with a sincere smile and will seat you in a comfy booth or large table!

Every item I had from the buffet had a distinct flavor and was very good. Sometimes Chinese buffet can be bland but this was not.

Might be better during rush hour. Never wll go back only the water was good! Dry food and cold. Hot in the facility.

Good place. Small buffet but the food was surprisingly good. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. The desserts leave A LOT to be desired. Would like to see an ice cream machine, chocolate pudding, strawberry shortcake perhaps. The cookies and doughnuts weren’t very good.Update: This place is still good but their to-go prices are too high in my opinion. Invest in a scale and go by the pound. I paid $11 for a barely full box. A bit overpriced for this area/compared to the dine in option.

This place has went downhill. I wouldn't recommend it. The food has lost it's flavor.

Some food options are good and some just aren’t. Not the cleanest and most comfortable place to eat. The kitchen workers who stock the buffet give dirty looks to women. They’ve done it to my mother, and girlfriend in which I don’t appreciate and is why I won’t return.

I can't express into words my disgust of this buffet. I found ONE edible item on their roughly 20 item buffet. Food was bare, old, dry and cold. Couldn't have been more displeased. Hope we don't get sick.

Good food and prices

First time going there had buffet .not many items too choose from . no seafood or veggies. All with meat. Need more options for being buffet however the food was hot and fresh and the server for our drinks was nice

Friendly staff and mostly good food some Chinese places have better food. But over all this place is pretty good.

You know l really miss their buffet because l can order anything I want to eat. They are partially open and I got there and I ordered the food and in 15 minutes it was ready. When I got home I'll open up the food and it was just beautiful. That food looked good and it was delicious also. Thank you all for taking great pride in preparing my food. 👏👏👏

The food was good and there was a nice selection at the buffet. The reason for the three stars is that the food was cold, and that is not safe at a buffet. Also, for salt and pepper at the table there were paper packets that seem to have been damp at some point as the salt was caked.

Not a good selection on buffet. Food must have been out for a while the pepper steak was drued out, wings not hot nd dried out. Thus place years ago was good Chinese food. Needs updsting on inside same decor when they first opened up many many years ago.

The couple times I tried the food here was disappointing. The crab Rangoon’s here are not good. I’d say the drive to Southport gourmet is worth it from here if you’re looking for some decent Chinese.

I stopped there for take out last week, first time there. I got BBQ ribs (bone in) and they were pretty good. Sweet n Sour Pork, yuck. While I was waiting, there was 1 table occupied. Waitress was just standing there, I asked if I could have a glass of water, she said NO! So, just rude. I wont bother going back. As a option, the Chinese take out place by Food Lion in Calabash is very good.

I visited Zengs Garden today and was extremely disappointed with today's visit!! Ive eaten here many times over the years! It has always been my favorite place to eat! Many of the item's on the Buffet just had no flavor at all!! The Hot and Sour soup was hot but not sour!! My favorite Chicken and Broccoli was just Bland! There were no Salt and Pepper shakers only packets and the salt packets were thick with moisture so the salt didnt come out!!What has happened to this place!! So disappointed in this resturaunt!😓

I am used to a better quality Chinese food. I don't dislike it, but it is pretty average. It would be nice to have a shrimp dish on the buffet.
